Like its larger 8 hp 4 seat sibling listed below this 6 hp single cylinder 3 speed car has a very decent turn of speed, its engine power no doubt benefitting from it having all-mechanical valves. There are no records of its restoration but it has clearly been extensively (and very nicely!) renovated. Apparantly it was originally sold to an optician in Australia who used it to visit his clients. It stayed there for some sixty years after which it came back to the UK when it was refurbished. This was obviously some time ago and the car has acquired a gentle patina but the high quality of the work done will be apparent to anyone inspecting the car. Since then it has been rallied in both the UK and Europe and recently acquitted itself very well on the Hampshire Snail Trail event. Rovers are very high quality cars which are well worth a look if you are looking for a single cylinder Edwardian. PS sorry for the rather dark pictures which were taken indoors, I will get some better photographs as soon as the sun shines for long enough to take the car outside! |
