Year 1912
Description Austin produced very high quality cars and this lovely machine is a good example of their work. It comes with a really interesting history and, if you will forgive the much overused word, patina by the bucket load! It is in very good order mechanically with a sweet engine which pulls very well combined with a quiet gearbox and transmission which makes it a pleasure to drive. The handbrake, which is the main stopping device, brings the car to a halt very nicely though I have to admit that the footbrake is a bit less effective! The coachwork is in very good condition and it is nicely painted without being too shiny like a buffed up show car The seat leather has aged pleasantly and it has a few cracks here. However I think it would be a great pity if anyone were to retrim the car as they would lose the lovely original feel of it. The correct hood frame has been recovered but it looks very smart and not at all out of place in black. All in all this is a chaming and very original Edwardian car which I believe is one of only about 150 10hp cars produced by Austin at this time. I imagine it must by now be even rarer than when it was new.
