This car, which was developed for his own use by well known historic racer Paul Lawrence, is one of the fastest and most attractive single seat Austin 7 racers I have seen. It has a Buff Form so is VSCC eligible and has also raced successfuly in 750 Motor Club and Bert Hadley championship races. It has an unsupercharged Tim Myall built engine developed using all the right components (Phoenix crank, Honda pistons, oil cooler, electric fan, electric water pump etc etc) which has been rolling road tested at 44.3 bhp which is very high for an unblown unit. It has a four speed gearbox with an offset rear axle, a tube front axle and hydraulic brakes. It is clothed in a very period looking Rod Yates aluminium body which has one of the smallest frontal areas I have seen on a racer which no doubt contributes a lot to its performance. I have several sets of lap times which demonstrate that this is a very very fast car which can hold its own with much more exotic and expensive racing cars. It is really well put together and remarkable value for money! |
